Ways of finding out

What are the differences?

• Self-reflection is process of improving practice by closing gap between the theory of what we do and the actions we take => guides professional practice

•  Feedback can be opinions given by students about, e.g. a learning experience. Also, feedback follows a formative assessment activity to guide a student’s learning => informs decisions about future change & support

What are the differences?• Evaluation is process of judging

effectiveness of a programme, unit, activity, learning & teaching approach, curriculum, etc. => informs decisions about changes

• Assessment is process of gathering information about individual's or group's learning, or a school's effectiveness => guides good practice

• Research detailed study of a subject, especially in order to discover (new) information or reach a (new) understanding  => guides theory & conceptual foundations
