Should the united states have dropped the atomic bomb on japan during world war II?

Yes, for many reasons. The losses the Japanese suffered with 2 nuclear attacks was far less than the

losses they would have suffered had Allies needed to attack the mainland of Japan.

Total known land area occupied by U.S. nuclear weapons bases and facilities: 15,654 square miles

Today as many as eight nations acknowledge the possession of nuclear weapons.

Truman wanted to end the war without invading Japan. The death tolls on both Saipan and Okinawa were indicators that the invasion of Japan would have been bloody beyond imagination.

Why did President Truman drop an atom bomb on Japan?
