Marie François Xavier Bichat was a French anatomist and physiologist who is best remembered as the father of modern histology and descriptive anatomy.

Xavier Bichat did hundreds of post –mortems .

Post Mortems are operations carried out on the dead bodies to find what killed them.

Bichat found that each human organ contains more than one kind of material. He listed 21 different kind. But he wasn’t to see the details because he didn’t have a microscope.
