Creating Comic Books

So, how do we

create a comic

book with Slides?

© 2017 - Chris Casal - @mr_casal

Start with

Google

Drawing..

I like Shapes

the best.

Easiest to

manipulate

I was made in

Google

Drawing!

Blank

canvas...

Biggest trick… Layer

shapes and make

borders same color as fill

to cover overlaps...

2 overlapping

circles… Keep

in mind, there

is no “erase”

tool...

A 3rd circle, resized and

shaped to cover the

overlap… The Zoom tool is

your friend!

Change the Line color

of the 3rd shape the

match the Fill

And there

you have it!

Once you’re done, click

and drag to highlight all the

pieces, then Arrange-

>Group to make a single

object

Save all speech and

thought bubbles for

Slides, keep the

character as clean as

possible in Drawing

Let’s do a

live demo!

After you’ve Grouped your

character, Copy it, then

Paste into a new Google

Slides file...

But how do we

make Slides a

comic?

© 2017 - Chris Casal - @mr_casal

Think

outside

the box!

© 2017 - Chris Casal - @mr_casal

This is a

BIG circle

on the

slide...

© 2017 - Chris Casal - @mr_casal

Only what is in the

box gets seen…

Color outside the

lines to “hack” the

deck

Semi

circle

success!

Use the Arrange-> Order menu to layer

objects as you see fit. Put objects/boxes

in front and behind one another

© 2017 - Chris Casal - @mr_casal

Changing the color of the semicircle

creates a “hill.” Adding a large box, and

sending it to the back created a blue sky

above my hill. And then animated

clouds...

My hill!My sky!My

clouds!

© 2017 - Chris Casal - @mr_casal

You can also animated the clouds by

having them start off the slide...

This is the narration box...

Add a “post” to

the narration box

so it looks like a

sign!

© 2017 - Chris Casal - @mr_casal

Think of this box as narration or voice

over...

These are for

dialogue...
