Obvious to You: Ingenious To Others!

1.Ambiguity – I’m OK with a little confusion. And I know there is always more than one way to do a job.

2.Inquisitiveness – I ask questions and want answers. I look up things that interest me. I’m a lifelong learner.

3.Generating Ideas (brainstorming) – I am able to quickly create a list of possibilities. I use my imagination.

4.Originality of Ideas – I can think outside the box and I have a great imagination. I think of ideas that others never even thought of.

Year of Genius Hour – What Have I Learned? (Denise Krebs)

The learners in my class of 2012 are geniuses. For over a year now, these students have had a chance to shape the agenda of their learning, at least part of the time. Because of genius hour, my students are learning to care again about learning. They choose what they will learn based on what they wonder about, what they are good at, and what they are passionate about

Genius Hour

Genius Hour is an amazing time. All the kids are excited and this creates a buzz in the air! Some students are huddled around a laptop doing research on countries they are interested in, others are creating websites, PowerPoints and slideshows on an area of interest, and some are out in the hallway filming movies.

Some aren't using technology at all, but rather are building and creating things with their hands. But no matter what they are working on, the common thread is that it is something they are interested in and/or passionate about.
