BreakfastIn the U.S. we typically eat breakfast between 7:30 and 9:30. Breakfast is a light meal but is very important to start the day! Some examples are:

FAST FACT! We also have a meal called “Brunch” which is eaten

between Breakfast and Lunch typically on Saturdays or Sundays. If it is

too late for breakfast and too early for lunch, then you have BRUNCH!

LunchWe eat lunch between 11:30 and 13:00. The American work day is from 8:00 – 17:00 with an hour lunch break at 12:00 – 13:00. Children eat lunch at school. They usually pack their lunch in a lunchbox or they eat cafeteria food. (Food made by the school).

Lunch (continued)

Americans who work typically go out to a restaurant for lunch with friends or co-workers. The most common things to have for lunch are a sandwich, a salad, soup, or a combination.

DinnerDinner is our biggest meal of the day.

Dinner is usually around 18:00 – 19:30. This varies depending on the lifestyle of the family. In my family, my siblings and I usually played sports in the evenings so we ate earlier.

Eating HealthyIt is important to eat a healthy, balanced diet. A balanced diet means a good assortment of all the nutrients our bodies need. We need protien from meat, calcium from milk and vitamins from fruits and vegetables. Our bodies will be healthy and strong if we eat good food.
