• There are aproximately 6.000 hectares of pineapple farms in Ecuador.

• Pineapples intended for export are grown on large- or medium-sized farm.

• There are around 100 mango producers in the country.

• 5.300 hectares available for mango production inside Guayas and El Oro.

• Around 11,8 million boxes were exported last year.

Borojo• It can be found in all the 6 Amazonic provinces in

Ecuador.

• High concentration of sugar, calcium, potasium, sodium, iron, antioxidants and vitamin A.

• Domestic Production: – 9,13 metric tons per hectare (fruit).– 5,6 metric tons per hectare (pulp).

Transportation

• Need to be packed upright in perforated cartons. Via refrigerated containers.

• They are impact and pressure-sensitive.

• Spaces between stacks should be filled to avoid tipping.

• Temperature must be maintained at all time, even during cargo handling.

• The demand for organically produced fruits is expected to increase considerably over the next 10 years.

• The increased imports tropical fruits in the world is reflected in a annual growth of 12 percent.
