ŞŞCOALA GIMNAZIALCOALA GIMNAZIALĂ Ă “ION POP RETEGANUL”“ION POP RETEGANUL” S SÎÎNCELNCEL

Our school:•located in Sîncel - a village in the heart of Transylvania•small public school, dating back as far as 1787-1789, having three levels of education: preschool, primary and middle school •comprising 240 students, aged 3 to 15 years old, 55 of them being of Roma ethnicity (22.91%), and 15 of them having special educational needs (6.25%) •other two structures: one primary school in the village of Pănade (3 km away) and one primary school in the village of Iclod (1 km away); thus, children attending middle school commute from these two villages.  Sîncel and the other two villages form an administrative unit which unfortunately, is an underprivileged rural area as most people’s income comes from agriculture and the level of unemployment is very high as more than 50% of the families are on welfare.

Motto: “It takes a whole village to teach a child”.

Following the above motto, our school aims aims at:at:

ensuring equal rights and equal opportunities for all its students;providing the best education for every pupil;offering a stimulating and broad curriculum and a wide variety of extracurricular pursuits;encouraging the development of a set of shared values, such as: respect, tolerance, fairness, compassion, appreciation of cultural diversity, love for their traditions;heightening student awareness and engagement in social, environmental and intercultural activities through opportunities within and outside the academic program;engaging parents, the community and the local authorities in support of the school.
