Simple present tense

The simple present tense in English is used to express

routines or habits.

My daily routine

• On Weekdays I usually wake up at 5:30 am.

• I stay in bed about 10 minutes, then I get up

• I wash my face and take a shower.

• Then I dry and comb my hair.

• I have breakfast at around 8:30 am.

• After breakfast I brush my teeth.

• I put on make up.

• I get dressed.

• I leave home around 5:50 am.

Verb Conjugation and

Spelling

In general, on third person we must add

To spell the verb in third person

, you have to change it,

depending on the verbs’ end…

1. Verbs with -O, -CH, -SH, -SS, -X,

or -Z at the end, we have to add -ES in

the third person.

• go – goes

• catch – catches

• wash – washes

• kiss – kisses

• fix – fixes

• buzz – buzzes

2. Verbs with a consonant + Y at the end, we

have to remove the Y and we have to add -IES.

• marry – marries

• study – studies

• carry – carries

• worry – worries

EXCEPTION:Verbs with a vowel + Y at the end, we just add -S.
