Access can be used as a noun or as a verb.As a noun it means – a way of entering or reaching a place; the opportunity or right to use something or to see somebody.The thief gained the access through an opened window.You need a password to get access to the computer system.

As a verb it means – to open a computer file in order to get or add information; to reach, enter or use something.The attic can be accessed by a ladder.Can you access and modify my personal records.

Excess can be used as an adjective or as a noun.As a noun it means – more than enough.He smokes to excess.In an excess of enthusiasm I agreed to work late.

As an adjective it means – in addition to an amount of that is necessary, generally used before a noun.Excess food is stored as fat. Driving with excess alcohol in the blood is a serious offence.
