nà shì shénme?那是什么 ?(What is that?)

Zhè shì yì běn yīngwén shū.

这是一本英文书。 (This is an English book.)zhè and nà are the most commonly used demonstrative

pronouns in Chinese.

Nà shì shénme? (What is that?)

Zhè shì shénme? (What is this?)

nà shì yì běn shénme shū?nà shì yì běn yīngwén shū.

那是一本什么书 ?那是一本英文书。

Běn is a measure word. In Chinese, the number must be combined with a measure word to say how many of something there are.

Numeral + Measure word + Noun Yì + běn + yīngwén shū

zhōngwén nán ma? (Is Chinese difficult?)

中文难吗？zhōngwén hěn nán.(Chinese is very

difficult.)中文很难。
