If you need something from the library and I’m not there or I’m working with a class…
1. Write your name on a post-it note… • Put the post-it note on the stack of materials and I will check them
out to you and put them in your box ASAP.
2. If you need them IMMEDIATELY… • Leave a post-it note with your name and the ENTIRE barcode found
on the back of the book (including dashes, periods, or letters found at the end)

Library Collaboration
Please share important information…
1. About your students… • Please let me know about any special systems or behavior plans you
have so that I can help support your students and their success.
2. About your plans… • Please share any 9-week plans or roadmaps that your team
completes so that I can correlate my lessons with your skills as much as possible and update the LibGuide.
• You are always welcome to stay in the library for part of all of your conference period.
What is the LIbGuide? • The LibGuide is a
“one-stop-shopping” for students, teachers, and parents.
• It is the main website that I use to share cool links, videos, and lessons.
• It is divided by grade level tabs, as well as other valuable information.

BYOT & Digital Safety
Remember: Adam and I are here to help!
1. Digital Citizenship & Acceptable Use Guideline Videos • Digital Citizenship and Internet Safety will be discussed with 3rd-5th grade on
their first library visit. Kinder – 2nd grade will do this discussion on their second library visit.
• Teachers may need to sign off that this information has been completed with ALL students (more info to come on this soon).
2. There is a new security blocking software… • Netflix, Pandora, and other movie/music streaming sites ARE BLOCKED to
manage our issues with slow connectivity. • If you come across an educational website that is blocked, you can follow
directions to report that website to be “white-listed”.
Copyright There are four legal criteria that establish whether using
a resource falls under “Fair Use”:
1. Purpose & character of the use 2. Nature of the copyrighted work 3. Amount & portion of the work used 4. Effect of use on potential market for work
->Please help model good print and digital integrity by showing students
how to cite their sources whether they are using a photo, song, video, or information.
Things to Remember...
Viewing a video MUST fall under the four Fair Use Guidelines
by law and per School Board Policy:
1. Must be shown in an Educational Setting
2. Must be a Legally Obtained Copy (not taped from TV)
3. Video must Correlate to Curriculum
4. There must be Face to Face Instruction (must stop and teach from video)
Remember, I am NOT the copyright police. When you sign the Employee Handbook, you are agreeing to follow this policy, just like me.
