Benjamin Franklin was born on January 17, 1706 in Boston, Massachusetts.

EARLY LIFE

Benjamin Franklin’s dad pulled him out of school at age ten. He ran away from his brother, in Boston, to go to New York and then to Philadelphia. In Philadelphia, he became a printer.

EDUCATION

Benjamin Franklin was a very good student, but failed in arithmetic. He was only in school for two years.

ADULT LIFE/CAREER

Benjamin Franklin wrote a book called Poor Richard’s Almanack. After that, he invented swim fins, bifocals, glass armonic, and the Franklin stove. He did experiments to prove that lightning was electricity. He got married to, Deborah Read Rogers in 1730. He had 2 sons and one daughter. He made enough money as a printer so he retired at age 42. He became Pennsylvania's 6th President from 1785 to 1788. He also signed the Declaration of Independence.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Benjamin Franklin’s accomplishments are: writing a book and inventing bifocals, the lightning rod, the Franklin stove, swim fins, the glass armonica, a flexible urinary catheter, the odometer, and the long arm.

His impact on the world is that he invented electricity.

He died, of lung disease, on April 17, 1790.
