In 27 B.C

Julius Caesar

Died.

Augustus

Caesar’s death

When he defeated

Cleopatra

and

Antony

At the battle

Of Actium

Before becoming emperor

Augustus often ignored

The Senate

and

It’s laws

However,

After his election

He not only

Wanted to share

His power

With the Senate

but

He also

claimed

To want

To restore

The republic!

He also

commisoned

Many roads

throughout

The entire empire!

Augustus

Died in 14 A.D

He died

From a

Mysterious illness

Cicero

Was born

In Arnipium Rome

On January 3rd,

106 B.C.

He was a Roman Consul

Or, leader

He was also….

An orator

A lawyer

A politician

A philosopher,

And….

A Quaestor!

Which is

A person in Rome

Who had charge of

Public income

And

Money spent.

He played

An important part

In many Roman politics

During his days.

He also

For some time,

During the Rome-Italy

war

Cicero

Did military service

From 90-88 B.C

Although

He was from Rome

He was well educated

In Greek literature

And even studied

philosophy

In Athens!

Cicero,

Whose full name

was

Marcus Tullius Cicero

Was murdered

In Formia.

Hadrian

Hadrian

Was born

In

76 B.C

He was considered

One of the

greatest

Of the

“5 good emperors”

His laws

Protected women,

Children,

And slaves.

He constantly traveled

Throughout the empire

Commissioning many

Buildings,

and

Defensive structures.

including

The famous

Hadrian’s wall

Part of which-

Still stands today

He was a very,

Studious man

And could often be seen

Surrounding himself

With poets,

Shcolars,

And philosophers.

He alo had

A great passion for

All of the arts

And although

He was a roman

emperor

He was said to have

Spoken Greek

Better than Latin

And was quite

Fluent in

writing both!

Throughout his reign

Hadrian managed

To strengthen

Citizen’s loyalty to Rome

And many

Considered him to be

the best emperor

In Roman HISTORY!

He purposely

made himself

Overeat and drink

So he would die sooner

Rather than deal with

His illness.

He finally died

In 138 A.D

Hannibal

Hannibal

Was born in 247 B.C

He was the son

Of the great

Carthaginian general

Hamiclar.

His father made him

Swear an oath,

At age nine

To forever be

the enemy of Rome

Hannibal kept true

To his oath when,

In 221 B.C

His father died

And Hannibal was voted

To be the new general

When he was 26 years old

Hannibal fought

in the 2nd

Punic War,

Leading his massive army

To Italy

By the time

They reached the mountains

That bordered Italy,

Only half of them remained

But still, Hannibal quickly became

One of the greatest

Foes of Rome in history

Even though he lost that war

Hannibal died

At the end of the

2nd Punic War,

when he poisoned himself

To avoid be killed by

Scipio at Zama

A town near Carthage

After being betrayed

by the Namadians

Who were originally

Allies of

Carthage’s army.

Hannibal’s death

Sparked the 3rd Punic War

which

ended

With Rome enslaving

The remaining survivors

Julius Caesar

Julius Caesar

Was born on

July 13th 100 B.C

He became

The dictator of Rome

In 48 B.C

Seizing control of

The Roman Government

He declared himself

To be the ONLY

consul

And announced himself

To be

Dictator for LIFE

He was elected

Military tribute

In 72 B.C

And led the army

That defeated Gaul

From 58-51 B.C

During his reign,

(48-44 B.C)

It was rumored that

Caesar was

The one who

Burnt down

The Library of Alexandria!

Many people feared

That Caesar was gaining

Too much power

Too fast

and so,

60 men

Including his best friend

Brutus,

Plotted to kill him

And their plan

Succeeded on March 15th

44 B.C

He was stabbed

23 TIMES.

Romulus

and

Remus

Romulus and Remus

Were twin brothers

Children of

A Latin princess

And the Roman god Mars

The father of the princess

Feared that they

Would dethrone him

So….

He pushed them

Down the Tiber river

In a basket.

But they were rescued

By a she-wolf

Named Lupa

And found by a shepherd

Who raised them as his own

When they grew up

They killed the king

And took his throne

Then they decided

That they wanted

To build a city

But they couldn’t agree

Where to build it!

Romulus wanted one hill

And Remus wanted another

In a rage,

Romulus struck his brother

With a stone,

Killing him.

Romulus founded

The city of Rome,

Naming it after himself.
