The Atlanta Regional Commission predicts the metro area will grow by 2.5 million people by 2040. People are moving to the metro area because of the

strong economy and the projected addition of 1.5 million jobs to the area, according to the commission.

Officials say there is a plan to invest $85 billion in transportation projects and $12 billion in transit expansion through 2040.
