Game Content Chart
Meaning: How game pieces advance on the board. This relates to how you design your board.
Movement through Space:
Meaning: Ways players can advance faster. Shortcuts can be placed on the board or through the use of other
game pieces (dice, cards, etc.)
Shortcuts:
Meaning: What does “winning” mean? What is the goal of the game? Reaching a certain, getting the most cards or tokens, stopping another
player from achieving something or reaching somewhere, and more.
Goals:
Meaning: Some games allow the players to make choices and make decisions. Example: In Monopoly you can choose if you want to buy property. Non-example: In Snakes and Ladders you cannot make any choices- your faith
is in your dice!
Choices and Decisions:
Meaning: Some events can take place regardless of the player’s choice. Using the board, dice, spinners, or change cards you can create unpredicted
events and make the game more exciting.
