• Originally found in Tasmania

• Also found in parts of south Australia

• Officially extinct in wild in 1933

Reasons for extinction

• Outcompeted in mainland due to Dingoes

• Hunting-Ivory and Entertainment• Disease• Developments cause loss of prey

Further Information

• IUCN declared it EX in 1972• Impossible for species to recover• It is a marsupial not a dog!!!!!

• Live in South East of Russia

• 350-450 tigers only! CR

• Were found in China and Mongolia

• Prohibited killing and selling• No possession of species• Now at LC• Captive breeding• Nest site protection
