THE EDUCATIONAL SYSTEMThe education in Bulgaria is compulsory from the age of 5 to 16.It is state-run; students’ books from Ist to VIIth grade are free. There are three stages of education:Preschool education –a nursery school, a kinder gardenPrimary and Secondary school - Ist - IV th grade - Primary school - V th - VII th grade - Secondary school - VIII th - XII th grade - High schoolHigher education - state or private universities ; colleges

THE TIMETABLEThe average number of lessons a day - 4 to 6. The school day begins at 8 o’clock in the morning and ends at 1 o’clock in the afternoon. There is a lunch break and then the afternoon lessons begin. They aren’t compulsory - students prepare their homework Assessment: the lowest mark – 2 the highest mark - 6
