DESCRIPTION

I watched 1800+ TED talks. I watched all those published on ted.com. Why? Because I am a TED addict. And because each of these talks reminds me that storytelling is essential in everything we do. Facts are important, but facts alone have no value. They have to be consumed to worthwhile. Stories make this happen by getting us involved. This applies to researching novel ways, it applies to creating products, it applies to leading people, it applies to educating kids, and it applies to marriage proposals. Essentially, it applies to anything worth doing. Storytelling is what makes stories happen. But, storytelling is a skill, and like any skill, it can be learnt. For example, an easy way to learn is to listen to good examples. Like TED talks. But, there are many ways to learn. And, there are even more ways to apply. It only takes us to invest in it. Why? Because storytelling is essential.

I watched 1800+ talks

I watched

I do not remember all of them

but, I did watch all of them

it all started 7 years ago

over a weekend

over a weekend I watched some 50 talks

and, I did not stop since

why?

because I am a addict

and because

and because it helps my conversations

for example,

for example, I can now say

the problem is not ignorance, it’s preconceived ideas.

the problem is not ignorance, it’s preconceived ideas.

or I can say

if you are not prepared to be wrong, you can never come up with anything original.

if you are not prepared to be wrong, you can never come up with anything original.

but, more importantly

every talk reminds me that …

every fact

every fact regardless of

how complicated

every fact regardless of

how dry

every fact has an interesting story

let me say this again

every fact

every fact regardless of

how complicated

every fact regardless of

how dry

every fact has an interesting story

this might appear to be insignificant

this might appear to be

relevant only for kids

it is not

facts are important

but, stories make us experience

but, stories get us involved

facts alone have no value

they have to be consumed

stories make this happen

storytelling makes stories happen

storytelling

storytelling can be learnt

storytelling is a skill

storytelling is a skill

worth investing in

storytelling is essential
