1. Practise your writing

• Blogging is a great medium for practising your writing skills – whether it be for short stories, persuasive texts, reports or fantasy writing.

2. Share your writing

• Blogging enables you to share your writing with friends, relatives and people around the globe!

3. Track improvement over time

• Blogging allows you to keep track of your writing over time, showing your improvements in spelling, grammar and punctuation.

4. A portfolio of your work

• Use your blog to collect writing and images about your goals and achievements. It then becomes a wonderful portfolio to share for parent/teacher meetings, job applications and interviews.

5. Collecting your work

• As an online scrapbook for saving links to resources, images, quotes and ideas.

• As a diary or journal for collecting and organising your ideas, plans and reflections.

6. Express your thoughts and opinions

• Many blogs help people to explore their ideas and feelings about subjects of interest to the author.

• If you have something to say, a blog is a great place to have your say and be heard!

7. Become a better thinker• Blogging helps you to be more

reflective• It also helps you to be more mindful

of what is happening around you, because you are often considering how you might write about it

• Blogging also assists you to be a more critical thinker – how can you improve your work?

• Connect with other students in different schools, states and countries!

• Find people in other parts of the world who share your interests

• Find teachers and classes to initiate global projects

• Make a difference by spreading a message.

9. Collaboration

• Work with other students to build a blog about a common interest – your favourite sport, music, animals, food or a hobby.

10. Learning Collectively

• Extend your ideas by participating in blogging challenges, commenting on other blogs and giving responses to people who have left comments on your own blog.
