Mesenchymal chondrosarcoma Rare, usually highly malignant chondrogenic

neoplasm. Accounts about 1% of all chondrosarcomas About one-third of the cases develop outside

the bone (extraskeletal chondrosarcoma). High metastatic potential Long term prognosis is poor The diagnosis may be challenging & this has

important therapeutic implications.

BACKGROUND: A case report of a 41 year female with a large

left thigh mass. Small mass on the back of the right shoulder . Past Medical History - thyroid mass excised

at a private institution , 2 years ago

Biopsy result - Chondrosarcoma.

Excisional Biopsy done - thigh

Gross findings A well circumscribed tumour measuring

210mm x 140mm x 110mm. It was firm on consistency.On cut-section, has a whitish glossy surface

(cartilaginous) and brownish areas in the centre.
