Final Product: A mini-maga”ZINE” of your creation that combines literary analysis and graphically supported interpretation of the analysis
Zine Requirements
• All wording included in the Zine must be typed• Correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation rules
apply• Each page must have a graphic, illustration, or
image connected with the written content. This could be a border, the actual graphic interpretation, etc. (MUST HAVE 5-6 GRAPHICS PER PAGE)
Zine Requirements
• All information should be original, creative and neat
• All points should be thoroughly supported with smoothly written examples and page numbers where applicable. Supporting information should also provide greater understanding and insight about the novel.
• Be academically honest in your reporting since plagiarism rules do apply to all assignments.
Zine Requirements
• Final Zine must contain 10 total pages
• Final Zine must be bound in some way (no stapled Zines accepted)
• All pages needed for full points
• Pages must be arranged in a logical order
Page 1: Front Cover
• Show key settings, title, author, your name– Your name and the author’s name should be
clear– The front cover should be attractive and
contain minimal empty space
Page 2: Table of Contents
• Include a page for each literary element and a page number. Don’t forget to number each page of your Zine.

*Include summary of life, work, and contributions
*Include a Works Cited of
sources used in author bio
Page 4:Critical Evaluation
Critical Evaluation• Write one paragraph for each category below:*Credibility: how believable is the plot &
character development, settings, etc.?*Aesthetics: how well written is the book?
Smooth, imagery, descriptive?*Didactics: what life lessons does the reader
learn? What is the author’s philosophy about life based on this story?
Support each category with specific examples and page numbers

Characterization:• Pretend you are the main character of the
book OR write from another character’s point of view about the main character:
*write a letter to someone describing your personality (or the character’s personality) using incidents from the book—do NOT summarize the book!
*include 6 traits of characterization
Page 6:Conflict Conflict
• Define and SHOW the conflict using one of the following methods:
* newspaper/magazine ad with explanation
* “Dear Abby” letter
* picture of object symbolizing conflict with explanation

• Define and SHOW the theme(s) using one or more of the following:
*a quote from an outside literary source
*existing song or poem (underline and explain related lyrics)
*write an original song or poem with explanation of how it relates to the theme

• *Write a one sentence explanation of the meaning for each symbol
• *Write 1-2 paragraphs that prove which symbol is most important to the novel. Support with examples and page numbers.
