such as Seil

Weid’a and

Seil Numeira

Hike takes

around 90

minutes

TRADITIONAL WORKSHOPS

Part of all trips (Bandora day, Hiking or Zikrayat

Ramadan)..

Throughout the year

1- KOHOL (ORGANIC EYE LINER

MAKING)

ORGANIC EYE LINER In a small tin

olive oil is

poured over

cotton cloth

The cotton cloth

soaked in olive oil

is burnt &

covered with a

led

After 3 hours the led is removed. The substance

used for eye liner is precipitated on the inside

surface of the led

Visitors can try the eye-liner and

purchase as souvenirs

2- SHRAK BREAD MAKING

Ladies show the visitors

how to make Shrak dough

& how to toss it over Saj

Then it’s the

visitors turn to bake

their own Shrak

4- BASKET WEAVING

Made out of Banana tree remnants

Banana

tree bark

is

soaked

in water

….Then threaded

and weaved into

baskets

Visitors can

purchase

some

handmade

baskets as

souvenirs

5- OLIVE SEED ROSARIES

Sun-dried olive pits are

used to create rosaries

.

Pit ends are scratched

against a rock until the

hollow inside of the

seed appears.

With a long needle and

a thread, the beads are

put together to form a

rosary or a bracelet.

Later , either heated olive oil or henna is used

to add a dye to the beads

6- HATTA TASSEL

Learning how to tie knots for hatta

tassels for traditional men’s

headwear in Jordan.

7- HENNA

Henna is used to adorn women's bodies as

part of traditions and social celebrations

Visitors can have their hands tattooed with henna &

they will learn about the cultural aspect of this tradition

8- WOOL WEAVING

Visitors will

learn how to

hold the sticks

and work the

yarn to make

these square

dreamcatcher

like things.

They are used

as impromptu

frames or as

decoration on

the walls.

9- CREATIVE RECYCLING

Wire Cars / Ornaments / Weaving plastic bags / Paper

reusing..etc

The children of

Ghor Al-Mazra’a

will teach you

and your kids

how to create

green wire cars

from recycled

and reused

materials such

as plastic

containers, cans

, leads

, sticks, wire

hangers and

even x-rays !

Visitors will

learn how to

create

ornaments

from recycled

materials such

as wires and

plastic bags.

Visitors will

learn how to

thread, intertwin

e and weave

plastic bags into

coasters and

beach bags

Visitors can

purchase

handmade

coasters

and beach

bags as

souvenirs

Visitors can

recycled

notebooks

as souvenirs

10- RAHA

The Raha is a

traditional wheat

grinder made

from two circular

rocks, the bottom

is fixed, while the

top one is loose

and is spun

around with the

wooden handle to

grind the wheat.

Visitors learn about the lifestyle and

heritage of Ghor Al-Mazra’a

community , share a communal Iftar

and enjoy entertainment segments

CUSTOMIZED TRIPS

In addition to the activities described above , the following

customization can be added to the trip..

University Programs

Students learn about social

entrepreneurship and how to

implement a social project

Many universities conduct seasonal or annual visit

such as University of Ghent , Indiana University

..etc . The visit is conducted as part of the

students’ study tour

Zikra also conducts programs that meets the need and interest of

the visiting students , for example: Zikra designed an Exchange

Tourism program for the architecture students at German

University to learn about building and designing mud houses .

Later , students were given the opportunity to construct two toilets

utilizing affordable local assets from the area.

Culinary Activities

Visitors learn about the occasions

linked to different traditional

Jordanian dishes and they learn how

to cook Gallayet Bandora

, Lazzagyyat

Khobeezeh, Mnazaleh,Arbod, Shrak

and many more

Traditional Activities

Visitors learn about the traditions and culture of the

Ghor Al-Mazra’a community , for example : visitors

get to experience the traditional bridal henna and a

rural wedding ceremony

Arabic practicing activities

Tourists get to experience the culture and lifestyle

of Ghor Al-Mazra’a from their customs to their

cuisine. In addition to that , Ghor Al-Mazra’a

community helps them practice their Arabic

language skills in a customized approach to meet

their need

The Zikra Initiative is a unique CSR and/or HR activity for any

corporation. The programs provide the employees an opportunity to travel

together or have a retreat to exchange knowledge, experiences, and

resources with a local community.
