My portfolio of calligraphy and painting

The portfolio concludes my works of calligraphy andpainting in the past few years. I specialized in studying twostyles of calligraphy, Kaishu (standard script) and Lishu(official script in Han dynasty, 206 B.C.-A.D.220), whichdiffered in hand-writing skills.

The moment I write on the paper with the Chinese writingbrush, I felt myself, brush and paper connected to one.Calligraphy calms me down, and helps to cultivate myconcentrated temperament. I have developed a habit ofwriting before painting, which brings me calmness and laterthe enjoyment of painting grows.

Calligraphy and painting are closely related, which isespecially embedded in Chinese painting. Especiallyspeaking, I have created many pictures matched withcharacters: various colors go together around the Chinesecharacters, forming a new picture. The pictures I createdwere mainly based on such Chinese characters as Ren(benevolence), Yi (righteousness), Li (manners), Zhi(intelligence), Xin (belief), which are advocated byConfucius, the greatest educator in ancient Chinesehistory.
