Consultant Breakdown

• JHA were engaged to provide ESD advice and modelling / calculations to satisfy the GBI & Green Mark

requirements

• One of the mandatory requirements is an OTTV ≤ 50 and RTTV ≤ 25

• Large complex building with many façade elements

• but….

• There was a BIM!

Model Sharing

The Green Building Index (GBI) is Malaysia's industry recognised green rating tool forbuildings to promote sustainability in the built environment and raise awareness among allconcern related to the building industry.

Malaysian standard “MS1525:2007” provides the baseline minimum standard for the GBI rating

• If design falls below the requirements of MS1525:2007, it is unlikely to be rated.

• Reward for designs that are better than the baseline minimum requirements ofMS1525:2007.

Green Building Index

What is OTTV?‘Overall Thermal Transfer Value’.Indicates the average rate of heat transfer into a building through the buildingenvelope

As per standard MS1525:2007, the general equation for any given orientationis as follows:

Where:α is the solar absorptivity of the opaque wall; Uw is the thermal transmittance of opaque wall (W/m2 K); Uf is the thermal transmittance of fenestration system (W/m2K); CF is the solar correction factor; SC is the shading coefficient of the fenestration systemWWR is the Window to Wall ratio

OTTV From Revit

• YTL created a Revit Mass model

• Façade areas required so used hosted wall elements

• Some faces required multiple façade types so we split into ‘parts’

• Each façade type was colour coded to be easily identified

ABN 19347292481

OTTV From Revit

• Part Schedule to obtain areas of each face

• JHA calculated material properties and added additional parameters to the model

• Calculated values were used to calculate OTTV within Revit

ABN 19347292481

• BIM enabled us to collaborate rapidly across an international team based in Sydney, New York and Kuala Lumpur

• The use of mass models with embedded data enabled rapid calculation of the OTTV values as opposed to taking

measurements off plans

• By adding parameters and calculating data within the model it was easier to keep track of options

• Both client and consultant being Revit savvy aided the process

• Future development – create dynamo script to read a matrix of input variables
