We are a 3rd to 12th grade program located on 4.7 acres (1.9 hectares) in Encino, California. Westmark provides a multi-sensory, whole-child approach to education in a nurturing and traditional school environment. The curriculum incorporates creative strategies and assistive technology based on proven educational research. This enables students to achieve their maximum potential in and out of the classroom. In addi-tion, Encino prepares its students for the future, by focusing on the development of self-advocacy. As well as the individual skills and talents of its diverse student popula-tion.

Encino Valley High School offers a small student to teacher Ratio, a comprehensive college and career counselling program. It also offers individual tutorial sessions befo-re and after school, beautiful new cutting edge facilities, championship C.I.F. athletics and a television network and news show run by the students.

The Balboa Sports Complex in Encino includes a lighted baseball diamond, lighted outdoor basketball courts, a children’s play area, a community room, a lighted foot-ball field, a lighted handball court, an indoor gymnasium without weights and with a capacity for 400 people, an unlighted soccer field, lighted tennis courts, and lighted volleyball courts.

“This week was too hectic and full of different things like the Encino School Earth Science Regents Exam and graduation rehearsals and ceremonies and trying to capture memories that are slowly slipping away as everyone readies themselves for the incoming force that is high school. As it gets closer I can feel its gravitational pull getting stronger, pulling me out of middle school.Everything is a blur. I keep forgetting to do the simplest things, like writing back my pen pal (sorry) and han-ding in textbooks. Handing in textbooks is the worst, because I have lug to school a backpack that feels like a boulder, and I must let go of yet another memento of my last year of middle school. Memories of this year play in my mind: Sitting at my desk in midwinter, groa-ning about wanting to graduate already. Hours spent talking to my best friend about high school and crushes and the universe. Wishing for summer. What happens next? Will high school be better or worse? “

“I graduated high school one May not too long ago, but my Amazing Life-Change wasn’t scheduled until the fo-llowing August: That was when I would turn 18, move to Los Angeles, and begin art school. There was nothing bigger nor more blissfully consuming than the pros-pect of a new city with new opportunities and all that dream-come-true stuff. But the gap between graduation day and My Future was enormous and unoccupied. I was unemployed and bored in my hometown, where all the same people were doing all the same things. I treated those summer months like so much time to kill as I counted down to moving day.In retrospect, I realize that this made me completely miserable. There was so much I could have accom-plished and enjoyed during my last summer living at home with my mom and my dog, Sammy, when all of my friends were still in one place. It could’ve been so meaningful and fun, and yet I just waited for what came next.Regardless of what you’ve got going on come the fall, I want YOU to have the summer I deprived myself of! Yes, the end of the school year, and especially gradua-tion, is exhausting. The first few days of vacation should be used to recover from the onslaught of exams, college applications, family visits, pinched cheeks, and parties. Loaf around, because you deserve it. But then promise me you won’t make a habit out of it, because if you want to get truly sentimental here, this is probably the last summer of your childhood, goddammit, and you’ve gotta make it count. “

“ It took about two weeks to understand the consequences about the Quinn John-son’s strange murder. My middle school, would be marked by this event, no one will forget. I sat on my bed for hours thinking about life and vulnerable that it is. Then, wondering who would be named school treasurer. What will happen now without Quinn? Were the other candidates freaking out as much as I was?Because this drama I want to contribute to my school making it a better place for all the students, but I also had more-personal reasons. The Quinn’s death had changed the students mind’s about our way of life and thats when i start. I had been ignored and harassed throughout all of sixth, seventh, and the first couple of months of eighth grade, and I knew that most people saw me as a loser. I wanted to prove them wrong. I wanted people to look at me and finally–finally–see that I mattered. Winning this election would be the ultimate vindication for me—not only would I be helping my school, I would also be proving to the bullies that they couldn’t bring me down. I would rise from their abuse victorious. “
