Geography
Norway is a beautiful country with mountains, beaches, glaciers and fjords. A glacier is a
slow moving river of ice formed from mountain snow. A fjord is an area of sea between
steep cli�s. Some of the mountains in Norway are so steep that no one has ever climbed
them! The weather in Norway is very cold in the winter and it snows for at least three
months a year. In the summer it is around 18°c.

Norway is a country in northern Europe. It is part of
Scandinavia along with Sweden and Denmark. The country
shares borders with Sweden, Finland and Russia. Norway has
a population of around 5.3 million compared to 65.8 million
in the United Kingdom. Norway has a king and a queen who are very popular. They live in
the Royal Palace in the capital city of Oslo. People in Norway speak Norwegian but many
also speak English. In the north of Norway, some people also speak the Sami language.

Animals
In the north of Norway you will find reindeer, also known as caribou. They have to travel
very far to get food. They use their sharp antlers to scrape away snow and help them find
food.
You will also find Arctic foxes in Norway. In the
winter their fur is grey and white to blend
in with the snow. In the summer their
fur changes to light brown.
