1.0 WP214 Imaging Spectral Colorimeter
The WP214 was developed to offer increased productivity to manufacturers and OEM customers who measure flat-panel displays, LED clusters, and multifunction information displays for luminance and chromaticity.
The system features a high dynamic range, cooled CCD imager with 1MP resolution and an integrated spectroradiometer which serves as the reference to correct the imager results. An automated filter wheel contains four tristimulus filters and five optional positions for scotopic or radiometric filters.
The function of the spectroradiometer is to provide high accuracy tristimulus measurements at one measurement spot, and by comparing the imaging colorimeter tristimulus data in that same location, a vector correction can be determined for the imaging colorimeter tristimulus values. This correction is applied to the imaging colorimeter data for display uniformity and viewing angle measurements.
2.0 Unique Capabilities
Choosing a measurement solution for display characterization is an important decision. Westboro Photonics is a leader in display measurement, with more than 20 years’ experience working with LED and display metrology. When evaluating technical alternatives, we invite you to consider the following important differentiators of the WP214 system:
Integrated spectroradiometer ensures superior color accuracy
Substantial time savings with simultaneous recording of an entire image vs. spot measurement systems (e.g. a complete control panel or display)
Integrated image processing functions permit new methods of analysis (e.g. automated target and background identification)
Short measurement cycles and simple setup of intuitive pass/fail criteria for use in production environments.
Compact, portable design and minimum training requirement facilitate a wide range of applications.
Built-in scripting capability to enable rapid capturing, analysis and reporting sequences.
Software development kit available for custom applications and automation
Wide assortment of Interchangeable lens options o Viewing Angle to +/- 80° when equipped with CONOMETER® lens

Hardware configuration and setup:
A WP214 (S/N 2140113002, pre-production system) with CONOMETER® lens was mounted to a stage on a manual rail system.
The sample was placed on a level stage and the measurement area was aligned using the image preview feature of the Photometrica software. The precise position of the AOI’s on the surface of the sample was not tracked or tightly controlled.
All measurements were performed in a dark room.
