Welcome ............................................................................................ Rev. John Franks

The Morning ServicesThe Resurrection Changes Everything

† Indicates the congregation standing.

I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come?

My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.

I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go to the house of the Lord!”

To you we lift up our eyes, O you who are enthroned in the heavens!

Our help is in the name of the Lord,

who made heaven and earth.

The Lord be with you.

And with your spirit.

Let us worship God!

†The Call to Worship .................................................................... from Psalm 121-124

The Meditation—Gonna Be A Great Day (Traditional Spiritual) ...........arr. J. MartinMelissa Schultz, soprano

There’s gonna be a great day. We’re gonna dance and shout and sing; We’re gonna bow down to the King. There’s gonna be a great day comin’ soon.

There’s gonna be a great day. We’re gonna join the heav’nly band; We’re gonna shout and clap our hands. There’s gonna be a great day comin’ soon.

There’s gonna be a great day. We’re gonna walk on streets of gold; That’ll be a sight now to behold. There’s gonna be a great day comin’ soon.

There’s gonna be a great day, the righteous marchin’.God’s gonna build up Zion’s walls.

†The Confession of Faith ............................................................... The Apostles’ Creed

Although it was not written by the apostles, the Apostles’ Creed is a concise summary of their teachings. It originated as a baptismal confession, probably in the second century, and developed into its present form by the sixth or seventh century.

*suffered separation from God

**universal

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended into hell.* The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic** church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

The ResponseThe grass withers and the flowers fall,But the Word of our God stands forever.

The Psalter Lesson ................................................................................................. Psalm 133

6§ Please kneel if able to do so.

The Assurance of Pardoning Grace ......................................................Isaiah 43:1, 25But now thus says the Lord, he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine.“I, I am he who blots out your transgressions for my own sake, and I will not remember your sins.

§The Personal Confession of Sin

§The Corporate Confession of Sin

Gracious Lord, you are compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness. We do not want to disobey you or dishonor you. Therefore, we ask you to deliver us from tolerating the things that you hate: forgive us for being proud, for being dishonest, and for pursuing or permitting harm to others. We repent of our scheming hearts that devise wicked plans. It is so easy for us to pursue evil and give in to temptation. When pressed, we easily misrepresent the truth. We create disunity in our church, homes and community because we are self-seeking and arrogant. Our hearts are so easily deceived. We pray that you would grant us repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth; in your mercy, forgive our wickedness, rebellion, and sin. In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.

From Exodus 34, Proverbs 6, 2 Timothy 2

The Pastoral Prayer and The Lord’s PrayerOur Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.

**The Offering and Announcements

The PeaceThe peace of the Lord be with you always.

And also with you.

Having been reminded that we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, we gladly extend the peace of the gospel to one another.
