Back to Basics

• Personalisation is a major initiative in Adult Social Care

• Various themes… we are focusing primarily on Individual Accounts, and older people

• People eligible for social care support can choose to have an individual account - this money can be used to achieve their agreed ‘outcomes’

Back to Basics

• In broad terms this represents a shift from

‘block delivery’ to service users, to selling

services to customers

• Big opportunity - and a big challenge

A Role For You?

• Bradford Council is keen to encourage third sector involvement

• Part of their commitment is investment in the project

• The key part of this project is the working groups

Working Groups

• At the heart of the support that we offer

• We want to be of practical use to you in helping you to understand Personalisation, and take advantage of any opportunities

• We also want to us the groups to share common issues and encourage collaboration, where it makes sense

The Working Groups

• Personal Assistants (PA’s)

• Developing Paid for Services

• Support planning and brokerage

• Being socially enterprising

Developing Paid for Services

• We’ll explore some of the challenges of setting up services

• Share some of what we’ve learnt elsewhere

• Help you to take practical steps forward

Support planning and brokerage

Being Socially Enterprising

• Primarily organisations interested in

working out what social enterprise means

for them - but maybe not ready to set up

services

• Social enterprise - verb not noun

Being Socially Enterprising

• Look at what’s stopping you being more socially enterprising

• And what could help you to be more socially enterprising

• Plan to run workshops on various social business skills - but up to you.
