CHANGE In A Woman’s Life An email workshop by Jennifer Keitt © 2010 May not be duplicated without permission

Every transition begins

with an ending, a loss . . .

When things change you leave behind

the way things were and the way YOU

were in the previous situation . . .

WHAT IS ENDING? Ask these important questions:

(1) What is ending? Is it a role or an identity? Is it a chapter in your life,

a dream, or a way of looking at the world that has been important to

you?

What is ending for me?

• Role

• Identity

• Certainty

• Meaning

• Plans

• Dreams

• Other

EXERCISE

• Check the items that

apply or add your

own concerns to the

list.

WHAT AM I LOSING? Ask: (2) What am I losing in this change? If you are moving from one environment to another, what familiar places, people, structure, and systems are you losing?

What am I losing or may lose

because of this change?

• Relationships

• Meaningful work

• Turf

• Status

• Stability

• Confidence

• Power or influence

• Comfort

• Structure

• Routine

• Control

• Other aspects of my

world

WHAT IMPACT WILL THIS

CHANGE HAVE? Ask (3) What impact will these losses have on my life? Will my beliefs, attitudes, and values be affected? Do you feel opportunities will be diminished?

What impact will these

losses have on my life?

• Values/beliefs

• Attitudes/feelings

• Choices

• Opportunities

• Limits

• Other

Don’t resist looking at what you have to

lose. Only then can you clearly see what

is ending and get ready to let go.
