blaze is a training event that trains young people

to engage in ministries. Unlike other training events

that allows attendees to flit between different

tracks, blaze provides attendees with 10 hours of

intensive theoretical and practical training in a

ministry of their choice. They can choose from a

dozen different ministries. Once trained we are expecting attendees to return to

their church/community and use their new skills to im-

pact the lives of their friends, family and peers. We

would like pastors and churches to:

1. Select and support those young people within

whom they see potential. Send them to blaze for

training and equipping.

2. Provide mentorship for these young once they re-

turn. Help direct their enthusiasm, and don’t let it

wane.

3. Help create opportunities for these young people to

use their new skills.

We know that being actively engage in the mission of

the Church will foster spiritual growth and commitment.

Thus it is imperative that young people, everybody, finds

an avenue for their spiritual gifts and talents. Active

members benefit the church by less problematic, more

loyal and better stewards. The Youth Department be-

lieves that this represents a life on fire.

FAQ

The minimum age is 14. This is because the training

is intensive and requires significant concentration.

suggest that the chaperone pays the full registration

tration site.

Tell the World is a unique fully dramatized cinematic production which powerfully tells the story of the birth

and development of the early Advent movement. Shot on location it features an original musical score, and

a full cast of professional actors and film crew. In an effort to make the film as real as possible, all 170 pages

of the Tell the World script and the 200+ scenes were meticulously scrutinized for historical accuracy by three

of the church’s foremost historians—Dr. Alan Lindsay, Prof. George R. Knight and Dr. Jim Nix of the Ellen G

White Estate.

HACKSAW RIDGE is the extraordinary true story of Des-

mond Doss [Andrew Garfield] who, in Okinawa during

the bloodiest battle of WWII, saved 75 men without

firing or carrying a gun. He was the only American sol-

dier in WWII to fight on the front lines without a weap-

on, as he believed that while the war was justified, kill-

ing was nevertheless wrong. As an army medic, he

single-handedly evacuated the wounded from be-

hind enemy lines, braved fire while tending to soldiers

and was wounded by a grenade and hit by snipers.

Doss was the first conscientious objector to ever earn

the Congressional Medal of Honor.

Desmond Thomas Doss (February 7, 1919 – March 23, 2006)

was the first conscientious objector to receive the Medal

of Honor and one of only three so honored. He was

a corporal (private first class at the time of his Medal of

Honor heroics) in the U.S. Army, assigned to the Medical

Detachment, 307th Infantry, 77th Infantry Division.

Enlisting voluntarily in April 1942, Desmond Doss refused to

kill an enemy soldier or carry a weapon into combat be-

cause of his personal beliefs as a Seventh-day Adventist.

He consequently became a medic, and while serving in

the Pacific theatre of World War II, he saved the lives of his

comrades, while at the same time adhering to his religious

convictions. Doss was wounded three times during the

war, and shortly before leaving the Army, he was diag-

nosed with tuberculosis, which cost him a lung. He was dis-

charged from the Army in 1946.

any other time in your life. This special

time is also an opportunity to deepen

your relationship with Jesus! Each day's

reading in this 14 plan presents a story

The conference for youth workers

by youth workers

Skit Guys Take Main Stage For the first time ever, The Skit Guys will not only perform at a Late-night, but they are

emceeing the entire conference! Get ready to laugh 'till it hurts, with the comedians who

get you.

Choose from more than 200 hours of in-depth

training that will fit the specific needs of your

youth ministry. When we say the learning is deeper, we really mean it. Here, you don’t just listen — you engage,

participate, question, challenge, and, most importantly, do. There’s not a fill-in-the-blank outline in

sight. When you’re here, you dive in head first. SYMC isn’t a conference that happens to you; it’s an

experience that can’t happen without you.

12-in-12 spiritual discipline

book now has its own

website.

The 2010 12-in12 book introduced

young people and families to spir-

itual disciplines as a means of de-

veloping a closer relationship with God. Readers

were challenged to try 12 different spiritual disci-

plines in 12 months. The book was very popular,

and the 4000 copies have been exhausted.

The YM Department has taken the contents, ideas

and activates and added new challenges and put

them into the new website.

www.12-in-12.com

The new website allows you to monitor your pro-

gress, record your areas of growth and share com-

ments and ideas. The website can also send you

alerts and reminders so that you do not forget to

complete your challenges.

The web was built by Brandon Hurst, former UF stu-

dent and Adventist Campus Ministry vol-

unteer.

Later versions will include:

the ability to share your accomplish-

ments through social media.

You’ll also be able to complete chal-

lenges as a group.

You’ll be able to modify challenges to

meet your individual/group needs.

You’ll be able to set yourself up as a group ad-

ministrator and monitor your group’s progress

with shared challenges.

We are very excited about this new website and

the difference that it can make in the lives of

young people. We encourage you to register on

the site, and incorporate it in to your spiritual

growth plans.

Please send us your feedback.

The Youth Department now has a radio station, albeit an online radio station. Ken Grant,

former Pathfinder North Zone A Administrator, is leading a team of young people in the

production and broadcast of radio programs. He is looking for others to join the team. The

great thing is that the station is licensed to have five different broadcast locations, and so

you do not have to be in North Florida to get involved, you can live anywhere.

For more information about this new venture please contact Ken Grant by email at

ken@pathfinderradio.com
