Encourage all residents to vote on Saturday, February 17th, 2018

2017 Accomplishments

Continued Smoke Detector Block Inspection/Issuance Program targeting at risk populations in the community.

Continue professional development programs for our members to include Fire Instructor I and Fire Officer I certifications.

Obtained ownership of Station 25-3 (Cedar Brook) and Station 25-8 (Waterford Works).

2017 Accomplishments

Improved interaction with community. Assisted at food banks, charity events, etc.

Improved upon public education and relations programs.

Continue to improve training methods to alleviate time constraints on volunteer firefighting staff.

2017 Accomplishments

Obtain Confined Space Technical Rescue status in Camden County (25 personnel) and provided training to members of Municipal Utilities Department.

Joined the Camden County Regional Urban Search Team (R.U.S.T.) operating as a Camden County Technical Rescue Team member along with Camden City and Cherry Hill Fire Departments.

2017 Accomplishments

Passed a successful apparatus replacement bond referendum with community support.

Fire Department has a large fleet to cover 60 square miles. We are not increasing our fleet but replacing apparatus.

Apparatus specifications should be ready for Board approval in April / May.

2017 Significant Equipment Purchases

Purchased Confined Space Technical Rescue equipment (shared service through Winslow Township). Complete new discipline for the WTFD.

Replaced antiquated nozzles used for apartments, townhomes, large commercial buildings, homes with larger setbacks and anywhere our preconnected hose cannot reach. Safer operations when water pressure is lower.

2017 Significant Equipment Purchases

Continued to upgraded thermal imaging cameras for victim search and rescue along with fire condition location/extension.

Phase 1 of Mobile Data Terminals on front line apparatus. Used to dispatch and communicate critical information too and from communications center. Also utilized as our mapping program (how we find you).

2018 BUDGET GOALS

Continue Technical Rescue training and equipment goals.

Facility upgrades – older buildings have utility and building system needs.

Maintain volunteer incentive programs.

2018 BUDGET GOALS

Upgrade of outdated water supply operations equipment. 60% of Winslow Township does not have fire hydrants and this equipment would support water supply (tanker/tender) operations in those areas.

Building of training props (enables personnel to stay proficient and keeps crews training here in Winslow Township).

Support for potential Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG 2017) award – matching funds.

Post Fire Incident Smoke Detector Inspections in affected neighborhood.

School Programs to include Read Across America and Have Lunch with a Firefighter.

1,521 emergency responses.

4,651 total emergency apparatus responses.

25 structure fire investigations

Three year trend of reducing response times in our very large community from an average of 16 minutes 11 seconds down to an average of 8 minutes and 29 seconds.

CURRENT STAFFING

Career Staff– Provide coverage 24 Hours a day / 7 Days a week

throughout the year.

– Staffing at Sicklerville Fire Station 25-7 0800 – 0800.

– Staffing at Waterford Works Station 25-8 Monday through Friday 0800 – 1800.

– Minimum staffing is 4 personnel (1 Captain and 3 Firefighters)

CURRENT STAFFING

Volunteer Duty Crews– Volunteer personnel staff Waterford Works Station 25-

8; 5 nights per week from 1800– 2400.

– Volunteer personnel staff Waterford Works Station 25-8; Saturday and Sunday from 1200– 2400.

– Year round coverage with minimum staffing of 4 personnel (1 Officer and 3 Firefighters)

Traditional Volunteer Firefighters– Pager goes off, they respond from home, work, etc.

SEIZING OTHER FUNDING SOURCES

Since 2004 we have successfully secured over $1.3 million in grant funds:– 82 sets of FF turnout gear– 92 SCBA (air packs)– Vehicle Exhaust removal systems in all stations– Physical Fitness Equipment– Smoke Detectors– Working on more………

Uses $514,414.00 of reserve funds in 2018.

Proposed 2018 Tax Rate is .144 cents per $100 of assessed value.

The cost increase for a Winslow Twp. Homeowner for the proposed 2018 budget (based on the avg. assessment of $175,100.00) is $10.50 annually or $0.875 cents monthly.
