Chevin Golf Club, on the edge of the Derbyshire Dales is one of the region’s nicest looking golf courses. They are welcoming visitors this season, with new facilities and there are offers available with a new fleet of golf buggies to take away the effort of traversing the well known hilly terrain. WIN A PLACE IN THE MERCEDES-BENZ HEATHLAND CLASSICThe 54 hole open pairs event, to be held from June 3-5 at three of the region’s finest golf clubs is fully booked, but Midlands Golfer have an exclusive chance for a pair of golfers to compete in the first ever running of The Mercedes-Benz Heathland Classic which could see them driving off into the sunset in a brand new Mercedes for a year. That prize is for a hole-in-one at the event, but many more from the likes of Footjoy, Titliest and Adidas are also on offer. The format for the event is pairs betterball with 180 golfers taking part

over the three days, firstly at The Notts GC (Hollinwell) on day one, then just a short drive away for day two at Sherwood Forest GC before the concluding round at Lindrick GC on the Notts/Yorkshire border. Three nominated holes, one on each course will offer the amazing hole-in-one prize and our winners will also be invited to take part in the review of the event, which will be included in July’s edition.

Glen Gorse GC are delighted to announce the appointment of Richard Reed as their new Head Professional. Coming through the amateur golf ranks based at Birstall in Leicestershire, Richard played representative golf for the county in both junior and senior teams whilst also competing in both midland and national amateur events. With

A levels in Physics, Psychology and Sports Science, Richard has an educational background that assists with the more scientific aspects of golf. After a spell playing golf in America and learning from some award winning coaches at a golf school in Texas, Richard began working in the professional shop at Notts Golf Club (Hollinwell) in 2006.

Richard is excited by the prospect of returning to Leicestershire and continuing to develop and improve as a golf professional whilst providing a great service to the members of Glen Gorse Golf Club.
