Resources
If you have any resources
linked to our topic of China
that you think would be useful
and don’t mind sharing with us,
that would be much appreciat-
ed. This could include books,
artefacts, models etc.
Our Literacy sessions this half term will cover traditional tales linked to ‘The Willow Pattern’ plate. This popular blue and white design on pottery tells the story of two people that fell in love. The children will look in detail at the story and use inspiration from this to design their own plate to tell a story. We will also be looking at information texts towards the end of the half term, which will enable the children to write about what they have learnt so far. In Numeracy the children in Year 3 will be revising and extending their knowledge of place value, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division strategies, as well as position, direction and money. The children in Year 4 will also be covering the
above as well as developing knowledge of negative numbers, fractions, measuring, including length, perimeter and area. Over the half term we will also be learning about The Great Wall of China, creating our own willow plate designs in various media and focusing on the Chinese New Year and the traditions that come with it towards the end of half term. Our PE lessons this half term will give the children the opportunity to develop their ball skills individually and in pairs. This is in preparation for a bench ball tournament at Brockington.
