Starter: In pairs, discuss which colours you would use as a wash for this image.

Look at the basic shapes and draw the outline lightly! Where should the

objects be on the page?

Block colour- all one colour

Background- the layer behind the top

Wash- use watery paint to make light tones

Success Criteria

• Fill all spaces with colour – choose the lightest colour of that area

• Only use light tones – watery paint

• Don’t add any detail or dark tones

• Use a big brush and work quickly

Extension:Start to build up the tone, slowly getting darker- look for shadows or darker areas
