8/9/2019 Whos Who of Psych Project
1/2
Whos Who of Psychology ProjectAs a class we will review all of the major players in psychology. We will discuss most of
them in class during this assignment, but there will still be some that you will need to
review on your own. There is a list of all of them on the back of this sheet. The ones inbold will be discussed in detail in class the others you will want to be sure to look at on
your own (they are in Chapter One of your text).
We will do this project entirely in class. It will consist of three activities that will be
graded together as one project grade.
Step One: Creating Body Biographies (Group Project)
Each group of two will have three psychologists that they will create a body biography
for. Each body biography should have at least EIGHT visuals that help us as a class tounderstand the psychologist. It is up to your group as to what you will include in the
body biography. In other words what should we, as a class, know? Please be sure to
come up with a catchy way for us to remember your psychologist and write it in largeprint at the top of the body bio. For example Freud is Psycho. The body bios will be
posted around the room. Be sure to include a key on notebook paper that we will hang
from the bottom of the body bio so that others can interpret your symbols.
Step Two: Becoming a Famous Psychologist (Individual Portion)Once we have briefly reviewed the big guns of psych with the body biographies, you
will choose one psychologist to become. Once you choose your alter ego, you willwrite a short two page paper (typed 12 pt Times New Roman double spaced) in first
person (as if you were that person) about you psychologist. Be sure to include the
following1. Birth/death dates (are they an early thinker or a modern thinker?)2. Contribution to the field of psychology/historical impact.3. An interesting fact that most would not know.4. How this individuals research is important to modern-day psychology.5. Educational Background
6. Experience7. Major Publications/Organizations8. School of Psychology to which he/she belongs?9. Major impact of his/her work in the field10. Types of Research methods utilized in his/her experiments11. Practical applications of the research
** I have included some websites on the back that may be helpful in terms ofresearch.
Step 3: The Psychologists Coffee Shop (Individual and Group)
Now that we have the basics covered for many psychologists, and you have become a
famous psychologist it is time for you to intermingle with other psych gurus. Prepare onequestion (from your alter egos point of view) to ask each of the others in your field. In
class we will then drink coffee and you will talk to your colleagues and get their answers
to your questions.
Upon completion of the three steps above, you will hand in your paper and your
questions with answers for a project grade (body bio will also be factored in).
You are encouraged to take notes on the body bio presentations. We will have an open
note quiz on the major psychologists that will count as a quiz grade at the end of the
project.
