What is a Mission Statement ?
• A mission statement describes your unique purpose
• It summarizes the talents and qualities you have and want to develop
• It’s what you want to accomplish
• It’s your passion
• It’s the contributions you desire to make
• It’s what really excites you? It makes you jump out of bed in the morning knowing that if you didn’t show up it would make a huge difference in the cause?

Encapsulates a vision statement: For example:
• MN-871’s vision is to build tomorrow’s leaders by becoming the best and most recognized AFJROTC unit. To succeed we must:
• Teach and use 21st Century techniques designed to foster problem solving, creative and critical thinking and a desire to learn
• Learn the value of education and character
• Lead by example; in school, at work and in our communities
• Implement strategies to ensure program sustainability well into the future

• Our Mission Statement: Become a better you; learn…grow…do
succinctly sums up the purpose of the cadet corps by wrapping a nice, neat box around the vision statement. In other words, a mission statement is like building a larger mission statement box around the smaller vision statement box.
It answers the question, why we exist today?

Why is your Mission Statement important?
• When choices have to be made, pick ones (goals) that move you closer to mission accomplishment . Will it help you to fulfill your mission?
• Nothing, no action, is neutral; everything you do either helps you fulfill your mission and accomplish your goals, or moves you further away from them
• When you make your decisions based on your personal mission statement, you never regret it

• To raise happy, healthy, well-adjusted children
