What About Graduate School?

Presentation for African American Business Student Association of Oklahoma State UniversityLynne Simpson, PhDAssociate ProfessorOklahoma State UniversityEdmon Low Library

Should I Go to Graduate School?

• Usually, YES!• When – Go when you’re sure of what you’d like to get

your degree in.• Why – a graduate degree reduces your rate of

unemployment.• And – a graduate degree increases your average salary.• Delay paying of student loans

How much does it increase your $alary?

The average person with a Master’s degree will earn more than $11,000 a year more than a person with merely a bachelor’s degree while the average person with a doctorate will earn more than $25,000 a year more than a person with just a bachelor’s degree. This could account for more than $1,000,000 in earnings over the course of a lifetime. This varies according to profession and location.
