STATED OBJECTIVE: increase sales of flax/linen. Appeal and convince. Move and prove.
This dynamic powerpoint provi-des the first complete and shared storytelling for the agro-industrial flax/linen industry as a whole. Faced with a new generation of demanding, curious and infor-med consumers, it is based on studies and summarises existing scientific data.
Telling the story. To enrich and update the per-ception of flax/linen with suitable vocabulary, as a creative fibre that is resilient, humanist, inno-vative and green by nature. Illustrate, humanise and describe through image, animation, pho-tography and video.
Whatever their profile, the end customer now has access to an extensive range of immediate and varying information, some-times contradictory, often inac-curate.
Confirming and proving the accuracy of each statement has become a necessity and the responsibility of the European Confederation of Flax and Hemp.
Valorising and supporting flax/linen through the traceability labels EUROPEAN FLAX® and MASTERS OF LINEN® is your res-ponsibility. Cross and shared responsibilities to collectively and individually take into account the technical, ethical and societal evolution of the eco-demanding consumer.
This is your new marketing tool and is designed to enrich the commercial dialogue with your partners. Its easily distributable and adaptable format, with its 8 powerpoint chapters, adapts to all settings and appears in all your marketing and communication materials.
Available in English, Italian, French, Dutch, Chinese and Ja-panese (adaptations calendar currently underway).

ABSTRACT & CHAPTERS
Exclusive by nature, flax is grown on geographi-cally demarcated lands – a broad coastal swath stretching from Caen to Amsterdam (France, Bel-gium, Netherlands) – with a damp and temperate oceanic climate that conditions its vegetation. In return, its crop rotation culture and root system re-generates and nourishes soils for succeeding crops.
Through the permanent partnership that exists between grower and scutcher (in charge of fibre extraction) – varietal research, local and skilled la-bour, control of all steps in cultivation, expertise in dedicated agricultural machinery, scutching – flax creates a context that is non-replicable elsewhere in the world and confers its territory with a first-place ranking for the global production of fibres, in both quantity and quality. A flax that’s competitive across all markets [60% fashion, 30% lifestyle, 10% other products…].
A source of innovation since forever, in a classic tex-tile weave or knit or in techno fabric versions, linen commits its unique savoir-faire [spinners, weavers, finishers and semi-product producers] to an infinite range of applications. Those applications are even more surprising in the area of composites for the production of high-performance textiles.
Kind to the planet and beneficial to humankind, the environmental impact of flax cultivation is reduced and the ecosystems respected – 0 irrigation, 0 GMO, 0 waste, few additional elements and no defoliant, carbon storage, ground retting – the major issues of water management and air quality form an integral part of its DNA. This low level of impact also comes to the fore during scutching, an entirely mechanical fibre-extraction process, carried out without chemi-cals.

Its remarkable and proven properties make flax/linen suitable for all uses / all sectors. Linen that’s breathable and absorbent, thermoregulating in summer as in winter, and capable of bringing that breathability to traditional textiles; the fibre’s lightness, specific strength and vibration absorption qualities open the way for its use in the composites industry.
With EUROPEAN FLAX®, the label of traceability for premium quality flax fibre, and MASTERS OF LINEN® which is the certification of the fibre, yarn and fabric’s 100% Made in Europe origins, flax/linen conforms to the desires of those 6 out of 10 consu-mers who say they are willing to pay more for a pro-duct with a certified European flax base (2015 Baro-meter of Flax/Linen – BVA].
A fibre whose legend starts 38,000 years ago. A fibre of civilisation which, from Europe to Asia, spreads its powers of attraction around the world, combining all the consumer’s ethical, aesthetic and cultural expectations into one single entity.
