• Words will be listed in our Homework folders and websites.

• Most sight words can not be sounded out. Must be learned by sight.

• Fun games to review the words. Ex: Which words rhyme with bike - like

• Make flash cards out of words to review at home.

• Children should be able to read and write them.

Read with your child

• Discuss with your child *parts of a book – cover, title page... *who are the characters? *what is the setting? *what do you think will happen next? *what words rhyme? *Use picture clues.

Listening Comprehension

• After you read a story to your child, have them:

*Draw a picture of what happened. *Predict what might happen at the end of story. (When you leave off the ending) *Sequence the story. Story retell

Letter Expert

• Every child gets to be a Letter Expert• Your child will bring home a bag/envelope

with a cardboard letter, sentence strip, and a book.

• Help them find pictures to represent the beginning sound of the letter.-Use clip art or magazine pictures.

• Read the book with them.

Writer’s Workshop

• Daily Message –Count words in sentences, Capital letters, spacing, ending marks.
