ASK YOUR CHILD…Have you taken an AR Quiz lately? How did you do?

Students should be taking quizzes every 2-3 weeks.

Students should be reading 3-4 books a Qtr.

Important Reading StatisticsOut-of-school reading habits of students have

shown that 15 minutes a day of independent reading exposes students to more than 1,000,000 words of text in a year.

Literate high school graduates need to know about 60,000 words; therefore, students need to learn an average of 12 new words a day.

Better readers read more. By 5th grade, good readers read an estimated 10 times an many words a day as poor readers.

BOTTOM LINE: encourage your student to READ
