Part II Child Care Facility 10 Hour Training Requirement

Implementation Information

• Release date: August 17, 2015

• The age‐specific DAP courses (Infant and Toddler, Preschool, and School‐Age) wereredesigned in 2009 and released in 2013.

• The age‐specific course redesign allows an individual to complete the UnderstandingDevelopmentally Appropriate Practices (5‐hour) course and then an age‐specificcourse to complete the 10‐hour Part II training requirement.

• This redesign acknowledges the overlap of information that existed in the previous10‐hour courses.

Implementation Information

• Students will be encouraged to take the Understanding DAP course prior to the age‐specific DAP course; however, it will not be required as a prerequisite.

• Understanding DAP will be a co‐requisite with the age specific DAP courses to meetthe Part II training requirement.

• These courses will be available as Instructor‐led and Online

• Corresponding exams in both English and Spanish will be developed for the new DAPcourses and will be available after August 17, 2015.

• Individuals who complete the current instructor‐led, 10‐hour DAP courses ITAP, PSAPor SAAP before August 17 but have not completed the exam will be able to take thecorresponding exams until June 30, 2016.

Implementation Information

• Staff who completed the 10‐hour DAP courses in the past will not have to completethe new UDAP/ITPR, PSPR or SAPR courses but they will be able to take the coursesand get in‐service and CEU credits if they choose to take them.

• CEU Assessments are not impacted by the release of new courses. Individuals whohave completed the ITAP, PSAP, and SAAP will have 60 days from course completion tocomplete their CEU Assessments. Individuals who complete the UDAP, ITPR, PSPR,and SAPR will be able to complete the new CEU Assessments for the correspondingcourses.

Americans with Disabilities Act Accommodation Request 

1. Provide documentation regarding the disability. It Could be:• IEP (Individual Education Plan), • Diagnosis confirming the disability, • Report from a specialist that evaluated the individual as well as the 

recommendations regarding exams. The report has to explain the findings in the evaluation and the type of disability as well as the proper accommodations requested.

2. Documentation must be provided at least two weeks before the exam date to the TCA by fax, email or mail.

3. TCA will coordinate exam site and date with the Child Care Services Exam Scheduling Center after approval of your written request.
