Faculty and Staff,
Another week has gone by in the school year, if you figure it up we have completed our 18th school day
which is 10% of the academic calendar. I hope this FIRST 10% has been a fulfilling experience for you
and our students. I want to thank everyone who has invited me to their classroom, I have sincerely enjoyed
being a part of your learning activities. Please continue to extend these invitations. I will continue to carve
time out to be engaged in the instruction occurring in our classrooms.
People who build successful teams never forget that every person’s role is contributing to
the bigger picture. One of the best examples of this involves Winston Churchill. During the
darkest days of WWII, Great Britain had a difficult time keeping men working in the coal
mines. Many wanted to give up their dirty, thankless jobs in the dangerous mines to join the
military service, which got much public praise and support. Yet without coal, the military
and the people at home would be in trouble. So Churchill faced thousands of coal miners
one day and passionately told them of their importance to the war effort, how their role
could make or break the goal of maintaining England's freedom. It’s said that tears appeared
in the eyes of those hardened men. And they returned to their inglorious work with steely
resolve. Everyone needs encouragement. Just letting someone know their work is
appreciated makes a team run more smoothly, become stronger and more effective.
- John Maxwell, Encouragement Changes Everything 2008
The work you do DOES make a difference in the life of a child. Please never fail to encourage your peer’s
and our partners who are involved in the education of our children.
Thank you for taking care of kids.

Sept. 11, 2015 Medical Human Anatomy & Physiology Classes Identify
Body Planes
Students in
Nurse C's Med-
ical Human
Anatomy and
Physiology
class today dis-
sected Sour
Patch Kids to
identify the
Body Planes.
They then wrote questions they would
like to investigate, and broke into groups
based on which question they found
most interesting. We have studies going
on that answer questions about cricket
swimming speed, jumping ability, habitat
choices, chirp decibels and even food
choices. Who knew crickets will eat
ham?! As the final step in the project the
classes will communicate their findings
in a scientific poster session.
Pre-AP Biology is having a
great time experiencing the
nature of science. Rather
than take notes on how sci-
entists operate, they are
conducting their own, self-
directed experiments on
some aspect of cricket be-
havior. Initially they ob-
served crickets, recording
their anatomy and simple
behaviors.
