Your Stewardship Matters
“See what love the Father has given us, that we should be called children of
God; and so we are.” (1 John 3:1)
During this season of giving, let us remember a beautiful gift that we have received
– being children of God! As God’s children, it’s in our DNA that we share and
express our love for others as well. Tell your spouse, children, other family
members and friends that you love them, every day! Also, pray for those people
that are different than you, those that you may not like or those that go out of their
way to annoy you. Your prayers may be the start of a new friendship.
All stewardship contributions received by the parish after
December 31, will be counted toward the 2022 stewardship year.

CIRCLE OF SUPPORT
January 27, 78 pm
Supporting a loved one live with anxiety, depression, eating disorders, and
other mental health challenges can be tough. You are invited to join us Thurs-
day, January 27th, from 7:00-8:00pm in the Saints Rooms for a confidential
place to listen, share, and pray for each other as we support our loved one(s)
through their struggles. This is not a counseling group, but a faith inspired sup-
port group. No need to RSVP – if you have questions, please email Carol Daun:
cdaun@stmattoc.org or Eileen Aalderks: emaaldwy@gmail.com.
“Behold, I proclaim to you
good news of great joy.”
To “behold” is to see clearly, to
experience something remarkable.
May the celebration of Christmas be
a renewal of seeing God as the
source of great joy in our lives and
the many blessings he has given us.
Merry Christmas!

Consider a Christmas gift to the African missions…
The participation of St. Matthew and St. Mary by the Lake in the annual Missionary Cooperative Plan (MCP) was complicated
this summer by Covid and other factors.
Because of your generous support of the missions over many years I want to make the appeal even though the year is almost
over. I would encourage you to consider it another way we can support the work of the Church during this Advent season.
The missionary group assigned to our parishes is the Franciscan Sisters of St. Anna. The order was founded in the Netherlands
in 1838 and its work is now centered in Kenya, East Africa.
Since 1981 the sisters have operated Nyamonye Small Home, a residence for 50 children from throughout the country who are
physically challenged. This year’s mission appeal will support the work of the sisters as they feed, educate, and take care of the
medical needs of these children.
A recorded mission appeal video, photographs, and detailed information can be found on the website of the Archdiocese of
Milwaukee. Please go to http://archmil.org/mcp-2021-Group24, to learn more about the Franciscan Sisters of St. Anna.
Donations can be made by writing a check payable to your parish (St. Matthew or St. Mary) and writing MCP in the memo line.
The check can then be sent to the parish or put in the collection basket.
Thank you for your prayers and financial support of the Sisters’ work.
Fr. Patrick J. O’Loughlin, Pastor
Principal’s Corner
The last week of Advent and a lead into Christmas. Our prayer service focused on love. This year
continues to be a year of changes, reflecting on what used to work, what doesn’t anymore, what we
can do, what we still are unable to do. Navigating the frustrations over masking or not masking,
when to quarantine, when you don’t have to. Through it all, we hold onto love, God’s love. Love for our school and students.
Love from teachers, support staff, parishioners, and parents. Loving one another as God loves us. Thank you for your
continued love and support! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Blessings,
Mrs. Stefanich

Updated Sound and sight!
A generous donation to our parish has enabled us to update the sound quality of our worship space and more this
fall and early December! The white sound panels hanging in the main church and the grey sound panels on the
back wall greatly improved the acoustic qualities of our church. The projectors and screens will allow us to move
from our paper orders of worship to projecting on the screen. While saving many trees, this also improves our wor-
ship by allowing our voices to fully project as we keep our heads held high and focused on the front during Mass
and other celebrations. The screens will also be used to provide visuals, when appropriate, during the homily. We
were also able to add the necessary equipment to livestream. While we are still in the process of learning to use
this amazing equipment and train people in Media Ministry, we are looking forward to all the wonderful opportuni-
ties these updates will provide in 2022 and beyond!
Welcome (and welcome back) as we celebrate
the great miracle of Christmas!
This past year has continued to be one of change. We are now looking
forward to being able to meet again in person in both old and new ways.
