PREMIERS READING CHALLENGE
Congratulations to all of the children who have finished the Premier’s Reading Challenge. You have less than a month to complete this. The final date is September 1
st. So come on LPPS lets get reading!
BOOK FAIR
Our annual school Book Fair will be held on Tuesday 20th of August. This is a fundraiser for our school Library and students will be able to purchase great books at cheap prices. Students DO NOT have to participate, it is optional.
Times and information about the running of the day will be sent home next week.
GAMES
If you have any board games that you would like to donate to the school Library for our lunchtime program it would be greatly appreciated.
LINDSAY PARK – DISTRICT CHAMPION ATHLETICS SCHOOL 2013
First of all, can I thank all of the students and staff who made up the District Athletics Squad last week. Lindsay Park is the
District Athletics Champion School for 2013. It was a great combined effort and I congratulate all who participated. I would
also like to express the thanks of the school to the P&C Auxiliary who purchased the singlets the students competed in. They
certainly looked a team and I know the students were proud to wear them.
VISIT FROM CHINESE STUDENTS
On Friday the school will be hosting 32 students from China. The students are from Hubei Wuchang Experimental School and
Wuhan Wuchang Experimental Boarding Primary School. They will be here as part of their tour of Australia and our students
will welcome them to the school and involve our visitors in their classroom activities. This is a wonderful opportunity for our
students to meet students from another country.
MR RYAN PARK MP. INSPECTS WORK COMPLETED
On Tuesday Mr Ryan Park MP visited our school to review the completed works under the COLA. Through the efforts of the
P&C a grant was obtained to undertake the work, the result being that the students now have an excellent external play area.
The next project to be undertaken in this area is the painting of a mural by Year 6 on the Canteen walls. Work continues on the
upgrade of the student facilities in the Kindergarten Block. Mr Lochhead is currently painting the foyer in preparation for better
bag storage facilities and a lighting upgrade.
ENROLMENTS FOR 2014
At this time of the year we have commenced planning for 2014. It is important that we know if you have a child (other than
Yr6) who will not be returning to Lindsay Park Public School next year. If you have a child, or know someone who has a child
that they intend to enrol at Lindsay Park in Kindergarten 2014 please collect an enrolment form from the office as soon as
possible as Kindergarten Orientation will be organised for early next term.
NOTES
This is a particularly busy time of the year and there are number of notes being issued throughout term. Please check with your
child each day if there any new notes in their bag. All relevant notes are placed on our web site as soon as possible.
PETS ON SCHOOL GROUNDS
Whilst I am sure that most of family pets are friendly and can cope with the noise and movement of over 300 children at one
time it can place stress on them. Children do not always approach dogs in the correct manner and some dogs are not that
friendly anyway. It does create a risk factor for our children at school and I would ask that you wait outside the school gates if
you are bringing your dog with you to collect or drop off your child. In the long run it will be better for your dog and
significantly reduces the risks to our students from a confused or frightened pet. Thank you for your assistance in this matter.
Robert Cusack
Principal
The following children have successfully completed the Premier’s Reading Challenge 2013
The challenge finishes on September 1st so you have less than 4 weeks left!
Congratulations to you all, your characters will appear in the Jungle on the library wall in the near future. The boys
are still winning so girls get reading!

Many of our students have been involved in performances in the
past few weeks. Some at school as a part of ‘showcase’ and some
outside of school at a variety of exciting events.
During ‘showcase’ in week 2, Iesha Charlotte and Isabel performed
a dance to the song ‘Live while we’re young’. Sophie and Alana
performed a dance to ‘Bom Bom Bom’.
On the 27th and 28th of July, Thomas travelled to Canberra to
compete in his first ever gymnastics competition.
During the school holidays, Emma competed in both fast
and slow tap dancing at the IPAC. She was awarded the 2nd Place
medal for her fast tap, and a Highly Commended for her slow tap
dance which she performed for the first time at the competition.
A reminder that classes start at 8:50 a.m. To be on time, your child needs to be at school before the bell rings (8:45a.m.). We have had a lot of late arrivals recently and many are repeat offenders. These students are missing out on important information provided at morning assembly and the beginning of class lessons. Please help us to provide quality education by ensuring
that your children are at school on time.
