An AIIMS doctors' bodytoday asked the institute's Boardto allow courts to decide on theissue of granting promotions tosome Assistant Professors,claiming they were "illegally"appointed earlier and demandedthat a decision on the issue beput on hold till then.

The AIIMS Board is likely totake up the issue when it meets

as scheduled on Friday.In a letter, the SC/ST Medical

Association urged HealthMinister Ghulam Nabi Azad "toask the Ministry to hold back itsdecision to provide promotions tothese illegal appointees on July19 ... And allow the matter to bedecided by the court on its meriton July 27."(PTI)
