El verbo gustar – The verb gustar
There are three (3) important parts to a sentence. They are:
1. The subject (The “Who”)
0. The verb (The Action)
0. The predicate (The Person/place/thing after the verb- The PPT)
I like to dance.
Subject: Me verb: gusta PPT: bailar
How to say like in Spanish
Step 1: Adding the Pronoun
Why do you add a pronoun? You add a pronoun to indicate WHO is doing the liking.
Subject pronoun: Me (pronounced MAY in Spanish)= To me
Step 2: Changing the verb GUSTAR
When do you use gusta? You use gusta when the word AFTER it is singular!
Ejemplo: Me gusta la escuela (I like school).
When do you use gustan? You use gustan when the word AFTER it is plural!
Ejemplo: Me gustan las ciencias sociales (I like social studies).
Step 2.5: How to say you DON’T like something
Put “No” in front of The subject pronoun (Me)
Ejemplo: No me gusta la clase de arte- I don’t like art class.
Ejemplo: No me gustan las matemáticas- I don’t like math.
THROWING IT ALL TOGETHER:
1. Add the subject pronoun (the “Who” of your sentence)

a. gusta = liking one (1) thing)
b. gustan = liking more than one thing (2+)
Asking about likes/dislikes:
1. ¿Qué te gusta? = What do you like?
