What do I hear?

(a book of first sounds)

Note to parents and readers:

This little book was created primarily to delight very young children. The words and images in this book represent a variety of sounds they will hear all around them and in the media.

As a child I was always amazed and delighted by the words that imitate or suggest the source of the sound that it describes. Of course, it wasn’t until much later that I learned this is called onomatopoeia. Most of the action words used in this book are onomatopoeic. It is my hope that your child will love the sound of words and come to enjoy the power of language that will open up many doors for them as they grow.
