The problem in today’s study methodology is that the student has been assigned some work and he/she must work through the solution in accordance to the given set of pre-defined work patterns itself.

This approach limits the student’s tendency to try to explore new ideas.

This approach will only enable the student to gain temporary knowledge(not permanent knowledge) which is useless in the real world.

PROJECT OVERVIEW

A web service system which allows the teachers to create Projects and its associated Modules.

Teacher can assign modules to a registered student or a group of registered students based on the teacher’s convenience.

The registered students can later view the modules along with the associated project, which have been assigned to him/her and work over completion of the modules.

Students can then submit the detailed report of the modules that they have done.

Both the students and the teacher can view the project status via a directed dependency graph that changes color dynamically.

Modules Evaluation and Peer-Evaluation can be added later on, to ease the life of teachers.

The project needs to be extended for the study routine of other fields as well like Social Studies, Commerce, Accountancy etc.

More functionalities need to be added in the currently existing dashboard(Secondary)

Discussion Forum should be added in dashboard which lets all the existing students enrolled, to come up with new ideas and innovative thoughts for new projects.

THE FUTURE OF PBL

Works quite nicely in school environment.

Designed to promote student-centred , inquiry-based education.

Most schools do not practice PBL.

This is particularly true for high performing high schools in India, where the education system relies on test scores, four-year college admissions rates, and similar metrics used in the 1990s to measure excellence.

But moving beyond old metrics requires a new framework for teaching and learning. Education is emerging as a knowledge building journey informed by collaboration and a rich digital environment. Inevitably, power has shifted to the learner and peer networks.

In not so far future, PBL will help the students learn in a better and a more progressive way thus enhancing their ability to adapt to the real world.

CONCLUSION

The old mechanisms were effective but the world is changing and the ways in which we learn new things need to be updated with it.

Yes, PBL has some flaws as it cant be effectively implemented in every new field of learning.

In not so far future the teaching paradigm would change and mostly many people would like to learn new things and do projects in varied courses online itself. When that time comes PBL methodology would be the one at the apex of all the other learning mechanisms!!
